Air-Conditioner

Airconditioner

The British scientist and inventor Michal Paradi found that when combining compression and turning gas to liquid this can cool the air when allowing liquid ammonia to evaporate

The first man to succeed was john Gori, a doctor from Florida, USA he created a machine in 1842 that could make ice, he also created a machine which could blow wind onto a bucket of ice in order to cool a room in hospitals where there were patients who were was sick with malaria and yellow fever.

Gori registered his own patent, however after his main investor died suddenly in 1851, he couldn't find another investor to help him keep working to fix and improve his invention,  Gori died in 1855 and his invention went down with him.

Air Condition Compressor

The real air conditioning system for industries started to show at the end of the 19th century. Mr. Alfred Wolf Meuvokan from New Jersey activated one of the first air conditioning systems in 1902 and it was placed in the stock market in New York

Willis Hebiland Crier created an aircondition system for a big printing house in Brooklyn New York in 1902. This system also reduced the temperature to low levels and also kept the humidity low in order to prevent curling the paper shapes and spreading ink while printing.

At 1906 Stuart W Cramer from North Carolina searched for a way to reduce the moistness in his textile factory. He combined moistness control and airing in order to keep the  humidity in his factory at low levels Cramer was the first to use the term “AirConditioning” in his patent while others still used the term “Water Cooling” which was a regular procedure in textile factories

The first modern air conditioning system was installed at the royal Victoria hospital in north Ireland at 1915. This system used different types of toxic gases like ammonia and chlorometan, however terrible accidents occured when they leaked out

The American engineer Tomas Midgley was the first who used the gas called priaun which was later discovered as safer to use. Nowadays because of the damage that the priaun causes to the ozone layer the use of this gas is converted to a gas called furon.

The home use of airconditioning system started only at the end of the    forties beginning of the fifties.

Important tips when purchasing an airconditioner

Check if the airconditioner that you require is a central, split window or portable airconditioner

Choose the airconditioner that is suitable to you according to the dimention of the space or apartment that you wish to cool or heat

The power is measured by btu as the btu rises the airconditioner is more powerful

The power of 10000 btu is equal to 1 horse power - hp

To cool a house of approx. 100 meters square it is recommended to purchase an aircondition which is approx. 30000 btu

Another thing to consider is the energy consumption and if the  airconditioner has passed the standards institute's tests

For our comfort it is recommended that for the operation of the aircondition there should be a remote control

Finally it is also recommended to listen to the motor when it is working at the shop you are going to purchase it, in order to know that the noise is not too loud for you as it can disturb your sleep

Today airconditioning is so necessary & common in hot countries that almost every home and building has   climate control
